Mohon conquers Mt Everest

Imphal, May 20: Puyam Mohan and teenagers Chirom Shangkar and Phairem Bidyachand from Manipur joined the elite groups of mountaineers with the distinction of scaling the highest peak in the world.

Mohan, who was part of the 1st North-east India Top of the World Mt Everest Expedition, reached the summit at 8.15 am on Sunday, becoming the tenth and last member of the team and third from Manipur after N Bidyapati and N Chingkheinganba.

Shangkar and Bidyachand, both 19 years old, conquered Mt Everest 45 minutes before Mohan in the company of an NCC expedition.
