Cultural and musical exchange program in Senapati


KANGPOKPI, May 23: All preparation are set for the One Day Cultural and Musical Exchange Programme jointly organized by the Senapati District Students Association and Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills in association with Student Mobilization Initiatives Learning through Exposure (SMILE) at Senapati Mini Stadium on 24 May 2013.

While speaking on the sidelines of the organized program, organizing Secretary Lamcha Chongloi said that, the organizing committtee, which is formed by the two student bodies is committed and resolute in its vision towards facilitating a broader outlook of healthy, meaningful and enriching co-existence among different communities which otherwise has become a great impediment to development and communal harmony, particularly in a diversified state like Manipur.

Lamcha Chongloi further added that, the desire for maintaining better relationship and peaceful co-existence among the Kukis and Nagas has created the need for a people to people interaction and get-together. Such a platform will be achievable through a committed movement inclusive of all the stake holders of the society drawn from both the communities. Thus, making it the first ever of its kind, the SDSA and KSO-SH have decided to co-organized this program of atleast 1000 delegates each from the two communities under the theme "Building relations through Music".

While highlighting the program, the organizing secretary detailed that reaching out beyond the borders of different cultural, traditions, talents and historical facts, the occasion will witness the display of cultural presentation from both the Kukis and the Nagas communities.

"It has also been decided to organize a common feast during to signify the sharing of food among brothers and thereby creating a sense of togetherness", further added Lamcha.

He further detailed that, the Musical concert will be a musical prayer from different Gospel bands and individual talents imploring divine's intervention to bring together the Kukis and Nagas closer emotionally, spiritually and physically.

The program will also be an occasion to educate the delegates through presentations by intellectuals from both the community with special emphasis on the finer art of building mutual respect and understanding among the different communities.

While informing that, transportation will be arrange from Gamgiphai to Taphou Kuki from the KSO-SH side and the same will be also arranged from the SDSA side that, both the students body jointly appealed to all to participate during the occasion.

They also appealed to every organization and individual not to call or impose any kinds of bandhs, blockade and general strike in the state for smooth functioning of the program.
