CM, Dy CM congratulate expedition team

IMPHAL, May 19: The Chief Minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh has conveyed his congratulations to the 1st North East Top of the World Mt. Everest Expedition Team which have gained tremendous achievement by successfully sending 10 climbers out of 13 climbers to the top of the highest peak in the world, a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat said.
Stating that the Chief Minister is proud to know that three Manipuris namely N. Bidyapati Devi (1st Woman from Manipur), N. Chingkheinganba (youngest from India) and Puyamcha Mohon are among the 10 climbers who scaled the summit, he informed that in three days from 17th to 19th May, are two from Arunachal Pradesh, one from Assam, three from Manipur, one from Meghalaya, one from Mizoram and two from Sikkim. He continued that the initiative of the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) which is organizing the expedition deserves all praise for this tremendous and historic achievement.
The Chief Minister also sent his congratulations on the news of 2 NCC cadets from Manipur namely Ch. Shankar Singh and Ph. Bidyachand Singh who are in the NCC Mt. Everest Expedition Team and who have also successfully scaled the highest peak today.
The Chief Minister went on to say that the tremendous success of the 1st North East India Mt. Everest Expedition 2013 has once proved the potential and talents of the North East people in the area of adventure sports and mountaineering in particular and this will surely encourage and renew the hopes of those who aspire to be Everesters.
Chief Minister also appreciated the support rendered by all concerned including the North Eastern Council (NEC), other NE states, and the families of the climbers and the people of Manipur.
Meanwhile, the state Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam has also congratulated the 1st North East Top of the world Mt. Everest expedition team on their immense achievement.
Speaking to media persons, he said that on behalf of Manipur Congress Committee, expressed happiness and joy over Maipuris scaling Mount Everest.
Gaikhangam extended best wishes to the N. Bidyapati Devi (1st Woman from Manipur) of Mongjam Maning Leikai, N. Chingkheinganba (16 yrs, youngest in the North east), of Patsoi Part IV, Ph Bidyachand of Moirang Khunou Kelly Makhong and their families while noting that their adventures and achievements are very encouraging to the people of this state.
