Accused in May 9 truck driver killing case nabbed; identities of co-accused established

IMPHAL, May 30: The state police have arrested an accused in the May 9 case of kidnapping and murder of a tata truck driver coming from Dimapur towards Imphal, informed a source.

It is also learnt that the identities of three other accused have been established and the missing tanker recovered.

According to a police source, the accused who was arrested today has been identified as Md Amir Khan (22), son of Md Yakub Ali of Litanpokpi.

A special team of Sekmai Police that conducted a search operation with regard to the incident arrested the accused, the source said. Following his statement before the police, the three other accused have also been identified.

The three are Md Rajak Ali (20), son of Md Muzarfar Ali of Keibung Mayai Leikai, Md Sanayai (45), and Md Sana alias Rehemal Ali (32), son of Md Suleman Ali of Kwakta ward No 3 under Moirang police station.

Police efforts are underway to arrest the three.

It may be mentioned that the accused kidnapped the truck driver Md. Kumud Ali(22) son of Md. Mojid Ali of Dikhujali village, Assam from the Sekmai bazaar  along with his truck and hijacked the truck after the driver was slashed to death.
