Post office parcel turns up with stones, wood inside claims consignee

IMPHAL, April 5: In a bizarre incident, a man claimed that he received a parcel containing stones, paper, wood splinters and other items. The man who identified himself as Moirangthem Radhesana (50) called a press conference today at the Manipur Press Club and made the statement.

He said his son, Moirangthem Roni presently staying at Noida had sent the parcel containing two pairs of pants, six shawls and two T Shirts for his sister through the post office parcel service. "The parcel was dispatched on March 15 and reached the Bishnupur Post office on March 19 but was handed to my family only on April 2," he said while showing a receipt that showed the date of the parcel reaching the district post office on March 19.

On opening the parcel at home, it was found that it contained only stones, wood and other things, he said.

He continued that following the incident, the family took the parcel to the General Post Office and complained to the Managing Director about the parcel. However the official said the post office is not responsible for incident and as such can only repay double of their parcel tax, he said.

He said on March 16, his son had sent another parcel to his aunty but the family has refused to accept it following the incident.
