Persons with two different IDs held

IMPHAL, April 26: Acting on a complaint lodge to the Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS) by some women of Khongman Mangjing about the suspicious movement of some people, two persons have been caught with two different identity cards of a single person today.

Informing this to reporters at its office Joy Chingakham, Secretary General of FREINDS said one of the caught persons namely Md Safiyana Khan (21) S/o Md Asad Ali Khan of Uttar Pradesh as per the voter ID card issued by the Uttar Pradesh government has a driving license with the name Muna Khan of Hafiz Hatta Minuthong issued by Manipur government and signed by Simon Keishing, District Transport Officer of Thoubal District but with his own photograph.

The other person Yogesh Kumar (16) S/o Ved Prakash of UP was also found to have another ID card with the same details. "Most of the times, such persons get involved in crime in their state and came here with the changed names to hide their identity. If they commit crimes here and flee to their states then it would be much difficult to find them as they use changed names here," Joy added.

He then urged the concerned authority to issue driving license to outsiders after proper verification.
