NSCN (K) cadre killed by suspected NSCN (IM) cadres

IMPHAL, April 1: David Lapson, public relation officer of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Khaplang) was reportedly shot dead by suspected cadres of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Issak-Muivah) today at around 10.30 am at Aziuram road which is 3 kilometer away from the old Tamenglong  under Tamenglong district.

According to sources, the PRO was shot while he was going in a gypsy toward Aziuram road by the suspected NSCN (IM) cadres leaving him dead on the spot. The deceased received two bullet injuries on his head and one on his chest

Meanwhile, an encounter reportedly  took place between suspected Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) cadres and  combined troops of the 6/8 Gurkha Riffles and 10 Assam Riffles today at around 10.30 am at a place between Khoupum and Kenjang under Tamenglong district

According to sources, the encounter took place when the said combined team rushed to the area for a cordon and search operation after getting information about the presence of some UGs around the Khoupum and Kenjang area.  When the combined team came under the attack of the suspected UGs, they retaliated with gun fire which  took place for around one hour

According to  sources, one suspected UG was gunned down during the gun fight. The dead body of the cadre has been and recovered  but no  arms and ammunition were found.
