KCP(MC) army chief, 6 others lay down arms

IMPHAL, April 24: The chief of army along with six carders of the Kangleipak Communist Party- Military Council KCP (MC) Nongdrenkhomba group laid down their arms before the Indian Army and the State government to join the peace process yesterday.
This was announced today by Laishram Gunamani, chief of army KCP (MC) Nongdrengkhomba Group during a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club, today.
Speaking to media persons, Laishram Gunamani alias Guna alias Pamheiba, son of Laishram Rajen of Kongba Laishram Leikai said that he along with six other cadres of the KCP(MC) Nondrengkhomba including lance corporal Kshtrimayum Binoy alias Keibi, son of K Praphulo and corporal Ningthoujam Jiten alias Yaimaba, son of N Yaima, Khestrimayum Binoy alias Kebi son of Prafullo, Chingsubam Amuba alias Johey son of Ch. Romi, Hemam Somen alias Thoungamba son of Hongba have laid down arms and are set to enter the peace process, with the remaining cadres of the KCP (MC) Nongdrengkhom group set to lay down their arms to the Army and the State in a short period of time.
He said that the cadres have laid down their arms to the state government to join the peace process with the state government and by looking at the desire of the people of the state.
He assured that the peace talk with the state government will take place at the earliest.
He also said that the arms handed over to the Indian Army and state government include two AK 47 Rifle, one Carbine and four Pistols.
General secretary Taibanganba of KCP- Lamphel group was also present at the press conference today.
When asked about the various cadres of the KCP groups who have laid down their arms to the state government for the peace process, he said that all cadres are in one of the Transit Camps of the Indian Army presently.
Meanwhile, a press release signed by the finance secretary of the KCP (MC) has affirmed the laying down of arms by seven cadres of the group and reiterated that the remaining cadres of the outfit will soon follow.
