Dy CM announces sops for Khoupum

IMPHAL, April 1: The Khoupum Area Public Reception Committee organized a reception of the Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur Gaikhangam at Khangsinlong Hr Sec School at Gaidinjam Village at Khoupum in Tamenglong district on March 26 last. Kikhonbou Newmai, MLA Tamei A/C and Jamhenglung Pamei, MLA Tamenglong A/C who accompanied the Deputy CM at Khoupum also attended the reception function.
During the occasion, Gaikhangam said Khoupum is a very historic place as the King of Manipur took refuge at the place during the seven years devastation.
Continuing further that the Chief Minister and PWD have been consulted to officially rename Old Cachar Road to its original name Tongjei Maril, the Deputy CM said that the Prime Minister had earlier announced the maintenance of the said road at Kangla Fort in 2006, and consequently sanctioned Rs 147 crore in the budget. Maintaining that the development of Old Cachar Road will develop the state, he said that the required formalities have been finished and the reconstruction of the road will be carried out soon.
He then said the Old Cachar Road which would be 92 Km from Bishnupur to Rengpang will enable a shorter travel time to reach Silchar and added that reconstruction of roads including the AT Road in Tamenglong is in the pipeline.
"The required steps for the construction of office buildings under inclusive infrastructure has been taken up," the Dy CM announced while adding that an SDO office will be built at Khoupum and a similar office at Tousem and Tamei. Adding that a police station will also be sanctioned at Khoupum, he appealed to the people for their cooperation in the road construction and other office buildings.
After the reception function, the Deputy Chief Minister unveiled the foundation stone for the construction of a church. The following day, he also attended the memorial stone erection function of Late Lungbi Rongmei, Ex Chairman ADC Tamenglong.
