BJP hopes for fair judgement

IMPHAL, April 05: The Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh has expressed its hope that the Supreme Court will give an unbiased and fair judgement in its hearing on April 09, 2013 with regard to the 6 cases of fake encounter killings of the state.
Speaking to media persons at the Party Head Office at Nityaipat Chuthek today; S Ibohal Singh, Ex MLA said the report submitted to the Supreme Court by the three member Commission after proceedings being heard of the six alleged fake encounter cases in the state has stated that all the six cases were fake encounters.
"There has been prolonged gross human rights violation, extrajudicial killings, abduction, forced disappearances, rape, merciless killings etc happening in the state. This is not right and should be stopped," he said, adding that the BJP is there to support the people of Manipur.
He continued that BJP is not satisfied with the present UPA government for keeping silent on the movements of people and Irom Sharmila’s continuous fasting for more than 12 years against AFSPA. As for the BJP, its Vice President Bijoya Chakravarty, MP has met Sharmila and assured to discuss the matter when the party holds the administration, he added.
He expressed appreciation to the country's judiciary and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for appointing a Commission after a PIL was filed by HRA and EEVFAM. He also praised HRA for filing the case at the Apex Court, and EEVFAM for trying to safeguard others’ lives even if they lost their own loved ones.
S Ibohal added that as per the Commission’s report, there seems to be a prima facie that the security forces killed the victims without any provocation and said that the responsible persons should be given befitting punishment. Stringent actions should be taken up against Assam Rifles or Central Forces involved in the fake encounters, he added.
Meanwhile, BJP Manipur Pradesh has also expressed appreciation and wished for a long life to Ngangom Dingko Singh, who grabbed a Gold Medal in the boxing event at the Bangkok Asian Games in Thailand in 1998, on being conferred the Padma Shri by the Government of India today.
