Assam Rifles detected IED


IMPHAL, April 8: Troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under HQ IGAR (South) detected a Remote Controlled IED near Khangbok, in Thiubal district at 4:45 am today.

The patrol team was on its regular task of clearing and sanitising the road for safe passage of the convoy when they sighted a suspicious looking object near the road. The team immediately cordoned the suspected area and stopped the traffic to avert any mishap.

The explosive detector dog was brought into action and it confirmed the presence of explosives. Army Bomb Disposal Squad was called who recovered the IED, which was around 2.0 Kg in weight.

"Remote control circuit and battery were recovered along with explosive. High sense of responsibility and proactive actions of the troops of 15 Assam Rifles resulted in averting a major damage and loss to life and property as also thwarting the nefarious designs of the militant groups," the Assam Rifles said tiday.
