Vehicles including Ukhrul DC’s hijacked from NH 2

IMPHAL, March 21: A Mahindra jeep of the Deputy Commisioner, Ukhrul was hijacked by unidentified armed persons from near the bridge of Koubru Leikha Station under Gamnom Sapermeina Police at around 5.30 p.m.

According to the police source two new Mahindra jeeps for DC, Ukhrul and the office were being brought in from Dimapur to Imphal. When the two vehicles reached the scene of the incident, some unidentified armed persons who were lying in wait hijacked and took one of the vehicles by overpowering them.

However when on receiving information about the incident, a team of 42 AR traced the vehicle but the hijackers absconded after abandoning the vehicle at an area on the eastern side of Keithelmanbi.

Gamnom Sapermeina Police have registered a case regarding the incident.

In a separate incident, unidentified armed persons hijacked an I10 car bearing registration no. MN-06/L-4644 from an area of Taphou Bazar under Senapati Police Station at around 8.10 p.m.

Police sources said that the car belongs to one L. Suresh, Section Officer at Paomata block office. The hijacked vehicle has not been traced till the filing of this report.
