Govt takes SSA case to Supreme Court

IMPHAL, March 5: The state government has pleaded with the Supreme Court against an earlier verdict of the Gauhati High Court which had quashed the appointment of Primary Teachers under SSA as per a recruitment advertisement dated October 18, 2011, informed a source.

A Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench comprising of Justice T Vaiphei and Justice S Talapatra had passed a judgement on February 7, 2013 directing the state government to iset aside the newly appointed Primary teachers under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and Recruitment Rules framed by the state and to form a new recruitment rule on the basis of the Section 23 of the Right to Education Act, 2005 and accordingly advertise it without further delay.

According to a reliable source, the state government had recently pleaded with the Supreme Court to quash the High Court verdict.

However it cannot be ascertained as to on what ground the state has made the plea.

Meanwhile, the petitioner of the Gauhati High Court case has filed a contempt of court with the High Court as the state has failed to take up any action on the directive of the High Court dated February 7, 2013, informed a source.
