Dead body of Kiran lies unclaimed; JAC relaxes general strike


IMPHAL, March 21: The dead body of Th Kiran, a Tata Aris driver is still lying at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science (JNIMS) morgue as an unclaimed body from 19 March after the Irilbung police found his dead body  floating in a fish farm located at Komlakhong Konuma Makha Leikai under the Mayang Imphal police station.

Mention may be made that the fish farm from where Kiran's body was found is located near the house of the Md Rajauddin who is reportedly the prime suspect in the murder of Th Kiran. Md Rajauddin is still absconding till the filling of this report though four co-accused in the murder are in police custody.

Meanwhile a press release of the JAC formed in regards to the incident has said that several civil societies assembled and held a public meeting on March 21 around 3pm at SWFC, Pheijaleitong, Thongju Part II, Imphal East on the alleged murder of (L) Thokchom Kiran Singh.

During the meeting, the participants resolved to issue strong condemnation of the incident and demanded capital punishment/life impreisonment of the thw arreste persons namely Md Salim and Md Sabir who are the main accused.

It was decided to demand judicial enquiry within a month.

Further according to the statement, the meeting also resolved  that the question of permanent ex-communication for those involved in the case is tabled and agreed and affirmed between the two communities residing in the area.

It was also resolved, “To forfeit the land belonging to the said accused. The said land must be used for integrity pillar”. and to relax the ongoing general strike till tomorrow midnight, said the press release of the JAC.

Meanwhile the JAC formed against the brutal killing of Th Kiran has imposed a bandh in the state from the midnight of 19th March demanding to arrest all those  accused in the brutal murder of Th Kiran.

Muslim Advocates’ Legal Services Organisation (MALSO), Manipur has said in a press release that it will support the democratic agitations launched by the JAC against the brutal murder of Thockchom Kiran Singh of Koirou Thongju Part-II while appealing to the JAC and the public to launch democratic agitations together.

MALSO said that it sincerely shared the sorrow of the bereaved family of late Thockchom Kiran Singh and it wished a fast-track court to deal with such incidents.

It further said that the accused involved in this incident can be awarded capital punishment or even life imprisonment as it may affect the communal harmony and undermine the confidence of people.
