Advocates organization calls for more courts on drug cases


IMPHAL, March 1: The Special Court under Section 36 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 namely the Special Court (ND & PS) whose main purpose is for speedy trial of offences relating to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances need to establish more number of courts said Rabi Khan, General secretary of the Muslim Advocate Legal Services Organization during a press conference at Manipur Press Club today.

He further said that drug business is increasing in the state and  many officers have been found to be involved in this business.

He alleged that involvement of drug seized from TN Haokip, MLA son makes the public suspicious of MLAs, Ministers and other high ranking officials.  

He continued that the government have to form a speedy trial court and that the government should arrest the drug traffickers to root-out drugs from the society.  

Lastly he appealed to all communities to support in the movement to fight against drugs in the state.

Anwari Nurjahan, President of the United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organization said the police personnel who caught the drug traffickers at Pallel will be honoured  for their bravery.

The United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organization; Muslim Advocate Legal Services Organization; All Manipur Muslim Organization Co-ordinating Committee; All Manipur Muslim Students organization; Pangal Students Organization; All Manipur Art & Culture and Sports Development Organization will support in the fight against drugs in the state.
