PRO and others face three cases in drug seizure incident


IMPHAL, February 25: Police have registered three different regular FIR cases against the six accused including the  Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Defence Wing (Imphal) Col Ajay Kumar Choudhury, who were arrested by the police at near the Pallel police out-post gate under Kakching police station in Thoubal district while allegedly trying to smuggle in banned drugs worth 15 crore to Moreh.

FIR No 26 (2) 2013 KCG PS, FIR No 27 (2) 2013 KCG PS and FIR No 28 (2) 2013 KCG PS have been registered against the six who were apprehended by the police with a huge amount of banned drugs yesterday.

The cases were registered against the six accused under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotrophic Substances (NDPS) under Section 21/29.

The six accused were produced before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Thoubal A Nouteneshwori Devi today.

The Court today remanded the six accused to police custody till March 8 following a prayer from the police in connection with the three cases registered against them.

The six accused have been identified as Col Ajay Kumar Choudhury (49) son of (L) Shashidhar Narayan Choudhury, posted as PRO Defence Wing at M-Sector, Imphal; assistant manager of Indigo Airlines Ngairangbam Brojendro Singh (40) son of (L) Ng Gyanesher Singh of Singjamei Khongnang Pheidekpi; Haopu Haokip (28) son of (L) Thangam Haokip of Langol Game Village Zone-II; Minthang Doungel (29) son of Lunkhohao Doungel of New Checkon; Minlal Haokip (25), son of (L) Otkhokai Haokip of New Checkon near Brighter Academy; and RK Babloo (25) son of RK Bijen of Top Khongnangkhong, Porompat DC Road, posted at 16th Infantry BN, Territorial Army (H&H), Assam.
