More than 50 loaded trucks reach Kangpokpi; 10 partially damaged

KANGPOKPI, February 26: More than 50 loaded trucks and four DI Tatas defied the Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) called “Public blockade in Kuki inhabited areas” and reached Kangpokpi along the National Highway 2 at around 4:40pm this evening along with security escort.

The trucks had been stranded at Mao gate due to the public blockade imposed by the KSDC in all Kuki dominated areas of the state beginning from February 24 midnight.

Shortly after the vehicles crossed Kangpokpi Police Station, a reliable source informed that around 10 loaded trucks were partially damaged by suspected KSDC volunteers in between Kangpokpi and Daili village.

The source further informed that, around 7/8 unidentified persons pelted stones at the vehicles partially damaging around 10/12 trucks that were at the tail end of the truck line.

Mention may be made that only local passenger buses and other four wheelers vehicles were relaxed from the purview of the bandh in view of the ongoing HSLC and HSSLC Examination in the interest of the student community. There is no movement of Inter-State bus service, and other four wheelers carrying passengers along the route.
