Cong MLA’s son arrested with drugs on revelation by Army officer accomplice

IMPHAL, February 26: In a follow up action to the arrest of the Public Relation Officer Defense Wing Colonel Ajay Choudhury and five others with a huge haul of drugs, the Thoubal district police arrested the son of a current Congress MLA yesterday.
The arrest has been made following disclosures from the six arrested.
Saikholen Haokip (35) son of former Congress Minister and the present MLA of 59 AC Saikot, under Churachandpur district, TN Haokip, was arrested yesterday along with a huge number of banned tablets from the residence of his MLA father at Deulaland under Heingnang Police Station, Imphal West.
A team of Thoubal district police arrested him yesterday night around 9:30 pm along with a huge consignment of illegal drugs (2316 tablets) Katamine, hydrochloride and I P extamine powder (500 milligram).
The illegal drugs were found firmly sealed inside four carton boxes and buried under a sintex water tank inside the MLA's residential complex.
Saikholen was today produced before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Thoubal, A Nouteneshwori.
The court has further remanded him to judicial police custody till March 8 under the same case registered against the six other accused of the February 24 Pallel drug case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) under section 21/29.
