New Delhi, January 23, 2013: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and ex-party President Rajnath Singh has been elected unopposed as the new BJP President.
After his name was endorsed by the party's parliamentary board on Wednesday morning, he was the only candidate in the fray.
Reacting to the allegations of the Congress with regard to spread of saffron terrorism, BJP President Rajnath Singh said the Congress is just indulging in vote-bank politics.
Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said it is BJP's internal matter, as to who they chose as their leader.
He said the new BJP President Rajnath Singh should first answer why he visited Pragya Singh and Colonel Prasad Purohit in jail.
Both Pragya Singh and Colonel Prasad Purohit are accused in malegaon blast in 2008.
BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha on Wednesday said that he welcomes Nitin Gadkari's decision to resign from the post of Party president, adding it would have been better if he had taken this step earlier.
