India asserts that minority and majority population is treated alike in the country

New Delhi, January 29, 2013: The Government as well as the political class on Tuesday slammed Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik's demand that India provide security for actor Shah Rukh Khan, saying it was "uncalled for" and he should be more worried over security of its citizens.
 
Malik was also reminded that India was capable of looking after its citizens and that it treated all of them equally.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said that in India the constitution provides equal status to all.
He said that Pakistan should be concerned about minorities in Pakistan.

Main opposition party BJP has also registered its protest over Pakistan's remarks on Film actor Shahrukh Khan.
BJP spokes person Prakash Jawdekar has expressed hope that Shahrukh Khan will very soon come up with his stand.
Information and Broadcast Minister Manish Tewari said that Government is not in favour of controlling the media.
However, he stressed upon the need for a statutory mechanism which can keep pace with change as it unfolds.
He was addressing the Broadcast Engineers Society Expo 2013, in New Delhi.

Information and Broadcast Minister also said, Citizen has the right to freedom of expression but it should be in limits, so it does not harm anyone.
