Hunters found dead


IMPHAL, December 28: Two hunters were found killed by unidentified persons at a jungle stretch located in between Laishang and Koukang villages in Ukhrul district today evening.  According to police, the two dead persons found today are among the four hunters who had gone for hunting with the other two hunters still missing.

The incident took place at Phungyar sub-division in Ukhrul district under Chassad police station. The exact location where the incident took place is around 8 kilometres away from Chassad police station in a jungle stretch, the police said. Today evening at around 5, villagers of Laishang and Koukang went towards the jungle area after they heard firing of several rounds of bullets and found the two dead bodies.

The two deceased have been identified as K Kumar Tangkhul (54) son of Lethaorhei and K Ramshang (40) son of K Ramyao, both residents of Koukang village. After hearing the news, a combined team of police and 44 Assam Rifles rushed to the area and conducted a spot inquiry and collected the bodies. A case has been registered at Chassad police station in regard to the incident.
