General strike relaxed

IMPHAL, December 23: The indefinite general strike called by the Film Forum Manipur (FFM), Manipur State Shumang Leela Council (MSSLC) with support from several civil society organizations since the intervening night of December 21 and 22, has been relaxed for two days, considering the occasion of Christmas.

The announcement was made to media persons by president of Film Forum Manipur, L Surjakanta Sharma at a press meet held this evening at a place in Imphal West. Member representatives of various other civil society groups were also present at press meet.

The general strike will be relaxed from the midnight of December 23 till the midnight of December 26, considering the Christmas, said Surjakanta.

It may be mention here that the indefinite general strike was called demanding action against an NSCN (IM) cadre identified as Livingstone for allegedly assaulting Manipuri film actress Momoko and life attempt on two other artists.
