Rural administrative service in Assam

New Delhi, Nov 10: A rural administrative service would be introduced by the Assam government for serving in the rural areas of the state, chief minister Tarun Gogoi said today.

The new service will recruit candidates for serving in the rural areas to carry forward government schemes and plans specially for the rural areas, Gogoi told reporters in Guwahati

He said 30 per cent of the jobs so created will be reserved for rural based candidates who will have to serve in the backward areas for a time-bound period.

The state government is also contemplating an education and employment generation commission soon to link up the two so that the youth could get jobs with their education, Gogoi said.

Stating the infiltration issue was not the number one priority of the government though it gave importance to it, the chief minister said economic development of the state, education, employment generation and farmers were its top priorities.
