National Re-dedication day observed

IMPHAL, October 31: The Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas or the National Rededication Day commemorating the death anniversary of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was observed today in the state at various places.
The state Home department also observed the day at the 1st Manipur Rifles banquet hall attended by the state Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
The state function was observed by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Home Minister Gaikhangam.

He continued that Indira Gandhi had always believed and fought for the unity of the country.
It was hr firm believe and stand that India cannot be divided or disintegrated, he said.
Peaceful co-existence amongst the people of the country was another of her firm beliefs, he continued.
Coming around to a Manipuri perspective, the Chief Minister elaborated that Manipuris have been taking pride over the fact that several communities have inhabiting the state in a peaceful and loving manner since time immemorial.
However, unfortunately several violent incidents have cropped up in the state in recent years disturbing the peaceful environment and the people of the state.
Such violence has also affected the development programmes of the state, he said.
He continued that everyone should not forget that everyone has their bit to contribute to the development of the state.
He further appealed to the people of the state to take a collective pledge to contribute in the development process of the state and bring unity amongst the communities of the state.
Meanwhile, the day was also observed at the Congress Bhavan.
Party members led by party president Gaikhangam and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh paid floral tributes to the portrait of the first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi during the observation.
