Joint Committee on ILP

IMPHAL, Nov  27: A delegate of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit, led by convenor Sapamcha Jadumani called a press conference at Palace Compound office of HERICOUN this evening.

Spokesperson, Joy Chingakham said the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has acknowledged the ILP implementation demand as genuine.

The delegate announced their arrival from a recent visit to the national capital where it submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, AICC president Sonia Gandhi, and other leaders of various political parties.

Speaking to media persons, spokesperson Joy Chingakham narrated that a sit in protest at Jantar Mantar, Delhi staged on November 25, demanding implementation of ILP in Manipur was also supported by certain Sikh supporters from the state, Delhi based Human Rights Groups, MSAD, Delhi Association of Manipur Muslims Students and several student body representatives from the state.

The sit in protest was also attended by MSCP MLA Tharmarjit and MPP secretary organization Mutum Maniton.

Meanwhile, elaborating on the meeting with the Union Home Minister, the spokesperson said that the Union Minister was not fully advised on the issue, and the delegate had to apprise him from the beginning on the need for implementation of ILP in the state.

He further lamented that even though the state government has already submitted its stand on the issue to the centre, it was not detailed on the issue and further blamed the state government of delaying tactics on the issue.
