New Delhi, Oct 31: The Income Tax department on Tuesday conducted inquiries at 12 places in Mumbai where firms, which had allegedly invested in BJP chief Nitin Gadkari's company, had given their addresses.

According to sources, the IT officials are trying to find out who are the directors of the companies and ascertain their business activities.

These companies are alleged to have invested in a company linked to Gadkari.

Gadkari is accused of using shell companies and fake addresses to mask funding of his businesses.
