Athlete recovers after wrong diagnosis

IMPHAL, November 4: S Sanahanbi Devi aged about 80 years of Singjamei Thongam Leikai in a press meet today at Manipur Press Club appealed the medical doctors to improve doctor-patient relationship.Sharing her cancer experience with a media team she said that she had been a track and field sportsperson.
She said that while participating in sports she had faced some health problems.
She further said that she visited doctors in Manipur who told her that she has pile case and prescribed her with medicines.
She said she continued to consume the prescribed medicine for many months.
S Sanahanbi Devi elaborated that while visiting her son in Delhi she took a chance to have a check up at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and underwent biopsy test.
After the second biopsy test formation of cancer was observed, she said and added that she was operated at AIMS.
Her cancer was in the initial stage and as such she survived.
She said that she was operated in the year 2005 and she has been living more than 5 years.
She added that she had participated in the National Master Athletic Championship 2012 at Sree Kanteerava Stadium Banglore. She said that she even bagged the second position in 800 meters race and was even given a certificate of cancer survivor by the Manipur Cancer Society in the year 2011.
She expressed that some of the doctors in the state lack in understanding patients and further appealed not to prescribe medicine without detailed investigation.
