AR detects powerful IED planted

IMPHAL, November 3: 15 Assam Rifles personnel on patrol duty today morning detected a powerful IED bomb planted by suspected militants on National Highway No 39 at Uningkhong under Thoubal Police Station.

The personnel of 15 AR stationed at Khongjom detected the IED weighted around three and half kilogram along with 12 batteries, six electric detonators and RDX explosives at around 6.20 am today during their patrol duty.

At around 11 am a team of police bomb experts retrieved the IED bomb and exploded it at Thoubal Khunou hillock at around 11.55 am.

It may be mention here that on October 26 a bomb attack was carried out by militants at near Uningkhong towards security forces but luckily there were no casualties.
