Two tennis courts inaugurated


Imphal, Sept 16: North Eastern Council's Secretary UK Sangma inaugurated two deco turf tennis courts of Imphal District Tennis Association here on Saturday.

The state-of-the-art tennis association's complex at Lamphetpat Imphal is being constructed the NEC's funding. It has six pruposed tennis courts and adequate training area. Under the funds sanctioned by NEC, the two deco turf courts was comleted months back. Each of the turf cost around forty lakhs.

 NEC had estimated the entire cost of the project as Rs. 3.22 crore to install four synthetic courts and two clay courts in the IDTA's complex. The foundation stone of the projects under the NEC funding had laid down in April 2011.

During three days long Manipur visit , Mr. Sangma inaugurated the courts formally along with State Chief Secretary DS Poonia. The completed courts was officially  handed over to the association on Saturday to make convenient for the development of the game in the state.

Addressing in the inaugural function, Uk Sangma said, "The complex will benifit the budding teniss talents of the state. The surrounding of the complex is much appropriate to the game."
