Polling blues: Supporters block road


IMPHAL, September 18: Angered supporters of Mongshangei Gram Panchayat pradhan candidate K Sharvan Kumar came out to the streets and blocked the Mongshangei road today around 11am alleging of manipulation in the counting of ballot papers of the Mongshangei Gram Panchayat 10/3 polling station.

A supporter claimed that while it was reported that only 701 votes had been cast on the polling day at the polling station, during the counting today it was found that the number had reached 705 ballot papers.

Supporters came out to the streets and blocked the road and demanded repoll.

The supporters also burned tyres on the road.

Meanwhile, the supporters were controlled by a team of the Singjamei police which arrive at the scene following information regarding the supporters blocking the road.
