NIA chargesheets UNLF chief RK Meghen

IMPHAL, September 6: The chairman of banned outfit United National Liberation Front (UNLF) RK Meghan alias Sanayaima who was brought to Guwahati by a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) after a staged arrest and 17 other members who were arrested by different parts of Assam were charged sheeted by the NIA.

According to a source it is learnt that the arrested members of UNLF were charged with waging war against India under section 120 (B) IPC, 121, 121 (A), 122 IPC and 16, 17, 18, 18(A), 18(B) & 20 unlawful activities Prevention Act, 1967 as amended in 2008. Charge sheet was submitted to the NIA special court, Gawuhati on February 14th 2011.

Today 17 out of 18 of the arrested members of UNLF including the leader of the outfit were produced at NIA special court for the framing of charges and the remaining one who is left on medical ground will be produced tomorrow for the charge framing.

NIA Charged arrested UNLF members of waging war against the Union of India. Charge sheet hearing will commence from September 28th 2012.
