More than 80 percent turn up to cast votes in spite of many clashed among candidates


Imphal, Sep 13 : More than 80 percent of the voters exercise there rights in the general election of Panchayat in the four valley district of Manipur on Thursday.

Thought it can not be officially confirm in how many polling boot re-poll will take place but in some of the villages who are already under Autonomous District Council (ADC) voters did not turn up to cast there votes.
Beside, in related with Panchayat election, one indentify as Dhamender chop up his locality this morning at Chanam Sandrok LP school campus during the early voting hour.

The injuries person was hospitalized at RIMS hospital were identified as Takhellambam Kameshwar Singh (55) s/o (L) T. Ibotombi and Thiyam Nabakumar (47) s/o (L) Th. Jullon of Chanam Sandrok Mayai Leikai. According to the doctors that the injuries were minor.

In the meantime according to police at RIMS hospital, said that main accused, is identified as one Huidrom Dhamender Singh (31) s/o Ekajao of Chanam Sandrok awang, who is the brother of last pradhan of the area added.
Meanwhile, at Patsoi in Lukram leirak Budhi Manjori Jr. Hr. School, 3/9 polling station, media person witnessed a fight between two candidate’s members, regarding the proxy voting during the hour of voting.
Similar case at Thoubal Heirok part II workers of the member candidate in 33/5 Laishram ongbi Nangbi Sana and Kh Modhubala reported fight against the proxy vote.

Source further said that in Thanga constituency Thanga part-I, Zilla parisad candidate Haobijam Ibochouba was also reported beaten by one Oinam Mangi along with his workers.

In the meantime source said that at Pallel UNAPAL primary school, 11/13 polling station no one turned up to cast their votes. And at Wangjing khunou polling station number 39/12 a ballot box capture were reported by official. And also confirm that a re-poll will be held.

And further, a source also reported that at polling station 3/8 Moirang Hannuba a stone were pelted by the workers of candidates but can’t identified.

Altogether 6,15,817 voters are there out of which the total voters of male is 3,18,122 while the remaining 3,33,695 are female voters.

More than six lakh will decided the fate of 60 Zilla Parishad members, 161 pradhans and 1514 panchayat members.

That poll was conducted in 1516 polling stations with 9096 polling personnel’s are engaged. All the polling station in Thoubal district is under hyper-sensitive category while 8 polling stations in Imphal West and 87 polling stations in Imphal East are also under hyper-sensitive category.

231 Zilla Parishad candidates, 595 pradhan candidates and 3794 Panchayat member candidates are in the fray on today election while one candidate of Zilla Parishad of Nambol and another candidate of Pradhan from Wangoi and 51 panchayat member candidates have been declared uncontested.
