NE people still fleeing from mega cities

New Delhi, August 16: The North East communities flee from mega cities of India due to insecurity as the state and central governments failed to ensure safety for their lives.

Different sources reaching to the North East Support Centre and Helpline say that over 300 North East students and employers in private and government sectors have returned home due to insecurity of their lives after rumours spread of attacking them in Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. News has been spread that North East people are fleeing mega cities for fear of being attack after Assam communal violence has spread which caused panic among the communities.

Sending them back home is not the solution, the state and central government must provide protection to the communities. The people from the North East India are the citizens of this country, who must be treated equally before the law of the land.

The central government must proactively ensure safety and protection to the North East communities instead of repeated appeal not to panic and believe rumour. The panic of fear has spread among entire North East communities and safety is their concern.

North East Support Centre and Helpline appeals to all the Parliamentarians from North East India to take up the issue with the central government.

North East Support Centre & Helpline (www.nehelpline.net) is combined initiative of various human rights activists, social workers, students, journalists, and lawyers seeking to prevent harassment and abuses meted out to women, North East People, and tribal communities of different states.
