Youth festival begins

IMPHAL, October 29: The 27th Manipur University Inter College youth festival 2013 was inaugurated today at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur. The festival was participated by around 800 students from 28 colleges’ in 25 events from different parts of the state and will continue till October 29.
Speaking at the function Commerce and Industries, Sericulture Minister Govindas Konthoujam said in the North East region the centre implemented various programs and after the coming of Look East Policy the state will benefit a lot, so people of the state have to be conscious that the advantages provided uner the programs do not vanish in vain.
He further said that especially the youths of the state have to gain awareness to grape the advantage because the youths are the pillars of the future.
In the present scenario most of the students did not properly maintain respect for the teachers as compared to past generation where teachers are respected and considered at the highest level, he asserted and continued that to get more success in their future careers, they should be obedient and respectful to the teachers.
He continued that organizing this festival will render advantages to the students to showcase their socio-culture to bring sense of oneness and theme “youth the integrity” is very proportionate to this festival to inculcate integrity among the youths.
Vice chancellor, MU, H Nandakumar Sarma said that the festival will motivate the students in building their carriers and to show felling of unity.
The energetic youths are the pillars of the future and during their youth period should utilize properly in a right way, he said and added that the Inter College Youth Festival is an opportunity to the affiliated college and university students for showing their talents and performance.
He further said that the festival will also provide a platform for integration among the talented youths of the different communities in the field of dance, music, theatre and fine arts etc.
