Woman allegedly dupes several with job promises

IMPHAL, October 4: Several persons today claimed that they have been duped of a total amount of Rs 1.5 crore by a 71 year old woman with job promises in several departments and institutes including at RIMS, JNIMS and the Police department by using the names of the heads of the departments.

Speaking to media persons at a press conference, Irungbam Dolen Meitei, Secretary of the People’s Action for National Democratic Movement alleged that one RK Indramanisana (71), wife of (L) Maisnam Komol Singh of Lamboi Khongnangkong, Uripok Kangchup road had collected a huge sum of money from several individuals promising government jobs.

The money collected since September 2009 is to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore, he said.

However, on being asked if the alleged victims have filed a formal complaint with the police, he said though a complaint was made, no FIR has been registered.

He maintained that the said woman had duped several individuals of amounts ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 3.7 lakhs each with promises of jobs at RIMS and as Manipur police driver(s).

Her promises were made on the basis that she was personally close to Dr Damayanti wife of the RIMS, Director and also a former state DGP, he said.

According to one of the alleged victims, who identified herself as Wangkheimayum Prava Devi of Khundrakpham said Indramanisana had taken Rs 3.70 lakh with the promise of recruiting her daughter as a Nurse at  RIMS on September 15, 2009.

She alleged that Indramanisana had informed that she has been asked by then RIMS Director Dr Fimate that there were certain vacancies and further asked her to bring candidates.

Another individual who identified himself as Ningombam Bobocha Singh of Khundrakpam claimed he was duped by the woman of Rs 3.50 lakhs with the promise of recruiting his son to a Grade IV post at JNIMS while assuring that she is well known to the then JNIMS Director Dr Dwijamani.

On September 10, 2011, Indramanisana took Rs 1.50 lakh with the promise of recruiting him as an attendant at RIMS, said Sorensangbam Robinkumar Singh of Keishamthong Elangbam leikai.

Another alleged victim, Akham Leipaklotpi Devi of Achanbigei said she had herself collected Rs 27.30 lakh from 52 of her relatives and gave it to Indramanisana who had assured that there were several vacancies at RIMS and that she was informed by the then Director Dr Fimate and Superintendent to introduce some candidates.

Meanwhile, the alleged victims and representatives of PANDAM today demanded that the said RK Indramanisana should surrender before the PANDAM office by 4 pm of October 8.
