No info still about missing JCB driver

IMPHAL, October 20: The locals of Chanam Pukhri Mapal, Singjamei staged a sit-in-protest today under the aegis of the Socio Economic and Industrial Culture Organization (SEICO) against the alleged kidnapping of excavator driver Meishnam Devaraj alias Ton, 50, son off late Boyai of Chanam Pukhri Mapal, Singjamei.

Speaking to media persons vice-president of SECO, L Satikumar, made an appeal to the kidnappers to release him safe and sound to his family. He also sought information about his whereabouts and condition from the general public.

He continued that on October 14 last Devaraj had gone to Kiyamgei Loukon, Kachipat to do work after taking a JCB from the owner, Chanam Anilkumar. But when the owner failed in contacting him he went to the spot to check whether he was working or not.

When the JCB owner enquired with the locals they informed that no JCB had arrived for the work, he said.

He further added that from the information given by Anilkumar two unidentified persons came to his house to rent the JCB for the work and given him their contact number. But when tried to contact them their mobile phone was found to be switch off.

In this regard a memorandum has been submitted yesterday to state CM but could not able to meet due to tight schedule of yesterday program, he said.
