KYU calls for cleaner and greener Kangpokpi

KANGPOKPI, Oct.3: Kangpokpi Youth Union had called upon every denizen of Kangpokpi to keep the town cleaner and greener for the future generations yesterday during the observation of 144th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation by organizing a mass social work in and around Kangpokpi town.

The Kangpokpi Youth Union in collaboration with the Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization and Kangpokpi Town Committee organized a mass social work sponsor by SBI Kangpokpi Branch yesterday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Students of Diamond English High School, Elite Hr.Sec.School, Kangpokpi Govt High School took part in the mass social work apart from the general public.

With the participants of around 300 volunteers including students of different schools in and around Kangpokpi, the cleanliness drive was carried out mainly at Kangpokpi Bazar area cleaning all the drainage with the assistance from Sub-Fire Station Kangpokpi personnel.

While speaking on the sidelines of the Mass Social Work/Cleanliness drive KYU president Hechon Singson said that cleanliness is a part of our civilization so with the progress of civilization one should cleanse the body, mind, heart, action, manner and soul which will lead to the highest form of civilization.

Meanwhile, Kangpokpi MLA lauded the KYU for taking the initiatives for a cleaner and greener Kangpokpi.

The MLA while appealing to all the denizens of Kangpokpi to adopt a clean and hygienic lifestyle asserted that by adopting a clean and hygienic life a valuable amount can be saved where health issues are concerned and it also helps in refining the culture of a society and reflects in every aspect of life such as art, architecture, food, music and so on.

In the meantime, Youth wings of all Churches in Kangpokpi also carried out a cleanliness drive at the two cemeteries of Kangpokpi as part of the mass social work organized by KYU the same day.
