JAC, family picket court complex; Oct 17 fixed for charge hearing of Satyabhama case

IMPHAL, October 1: JAC and family members of late N. Satyabhama tried to storm the the District and Session Court, Manipur West at Cheirap Courtand picketed the court demanding immediate justice in the murder case.

The three accused were produced before the court today.

All three Toijam Thesus alias Boy alias James (27), son of T Jugindro of Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai; Thoudam Jibon (27), son of (L) Th Thoiba of Irilbung Machahal Mayai Leikai and Kshetrimayum Biju alias Holendro (28), son of Ibungo of Irilbung Bazar were produced before the court of the Session Court, Manipur West as the Session Court, Manipur East Judge A Guneshwor was on leave. The case falls under the jurisdiction of the Session Court Manipur East.

Session Court Manipur West Brajakumar Sharma registered the three accused for the chargesheet hearing and fixed October 17 for the hearing.

It may be mentioned that Imphal East District submitted the charge sheet on all three accused in the Satyabhama murder case at the District and Session Court Manipur.

All three accused were arrested by a Special Investigation Team formed regarding the case during the first week of April this year, and are presently lodged at the Sajiwa Central Jail under judicial custody remand.

It may be mentioned that the dead body of Ningombam Seityabhama alias Penao (31), daughter of N Tomba of Kakwa Laishram Leikai Selungbam Leirak, a Junior Research Fellow under a DBT project on Pathology at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences was found dead in a partly decomposed state from a canal at Bashikhong Wangkhei Lowmanbi Loukon Khong under Irilbung Police Station, Imphal East district on April 5, last.
