IMPHAL, October 20: Family members of soldiers who committed the supreme sacrifice at various battlefronts in the service safeguarding the Nation were honoured during an ex-servicemen and veer naris rally held at Leimakhong Army Headquarters yesterday, conveyed a press release from DIPR.
It stated that the rally organized under the aegis of 57 Mountain Division was attended by Deputy CM Gaikhangam; GOC 3 Corps, Lt Gen SL Narasimhan; Chief Secretary PC Lamkunga; officers of Indian Army, Assam Rifles and large number of ex-servicemen and their family members.
In his speech, Gaikhangam lauded the ex-servicemen for their service and contribution to the nation and gave an assurance to look into the grievances of the ex-servicemen and veer naris and also to enhance their welfare benefits.
The programme also featured a medical camp and exhibitions, the release added.
