Awareness of Mithun rearing campaign concludes

IMPHAL, October 29: The five day long Awareness cum Poster Campaign on Mithun rearing, economic and nutritional security, environment protection organized by the Chandel District Animal Farmers’ Welfare Union in association with State Institute of Rural Development under sponsorship of Autonomous District Council, Chandel concluded today at Molnoi village community hall.
L N Kasung ADC/PD, DRDA Chandel, Thongmilen Haokip SDO/BDO Khengjoi block and Paisho Keishing, president of North East Border Area Development Organisation attended the closing function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
K Prakash Maring stressed that domestication and rearing of Mithun can easily enhance the economy of the family.
He further mentioned that there is provision of funding and policy of the central government, adding that due to absence of state policy, the farmers continue to remain unsatisfied.
Prakash also said that Chandel district has the greatest number of Mithun population.
On the first day of the programme, Dr Y Rajendro Singh Joint Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry delivered a lecture on ‘Sandang and other Livestock: Present and Future Scope’ as resource persons.
