“A Healthy District is a Happy District”: ADC Sadar Hills

KANGPOKPI, October 29: Nothing is much important than health. The famous saying Small family is a happy family has been significantly re-quoted as “Healthy family is a Happy family” since health is very much related to happiness. Therefore it would be wise to say that a ‘Healthy District’ is a Happy District asserted Lunthang Haokip, Executive Member (Vety.&Med.), Autonomous District Council Sadar Hills while adding that when all the district of the state becomes healthy, Manipur will be automatically a happy state.Lunthang Haokip was speaking on the sidelines of the first Free Medical Camp conducted yesterday at Chalva village, exactly 50 Km away from Kangpokpi along the Imphal–Tamenglong road.
The free medical camp was organized and sponsored by the Autonomous District Council Sadar Hills under 13th Finance Commission.
The EM (Vety and Med), ADC Sadar Hills continued, “Wealth might be the wish list for many people throughout the world but people of Sadar Hills should give priority for healthy longevity because wealth is earned through hard work and if our health is affected, how would we be able to concentrate on our work to bring back the bacon home? Therefore is it vital that we remain healthy so that we can focus on our work to put food on the table”.
“When one is healthy enough to put sufficient food on his table, He is a happy man”, noted Lunthang Haokip.
Lunthang Haokip further averred that the Autonomous District Council, Sadar Hills with a concern of the people’s health had passed to conduct, organize and sponsor free medical camp and as scheduled the first free medical camp has been successfully conducted at Chalva village.
He added that the same camp will be conducted very soon at Saikul area and New Keithalmanbi.
A 20 strong team comprising nine members of Vety Dept including one doctor, four field assistants, four attendants and 11 members of Medical dept. including one doctors, five nurses, three pharmacists under Autonomous District Council Sadar Hills and one doctor from KCH and another from RIMS, Gynae Dept. were pressed into service during yesterday’s free medical camp at Chalva where more than 300 patients from Chalva, Geljang, Gelbung, Gelnal, Chaljang, Wakotphai and its adjoining villages turned up to avail the facilities.
Vety dept has been led by Dr John Meigai, VO, SHADC-Kpi and the Medical Dept has been led by Dr Brajamani Singh, medical superintendent, SHADC-Kpi.
Five cataract cases were found during the camp and they were given an opportunity to undergo operation free of cost if willing said Dr Rajen, Asst. Orphth. KCH while Dr L Somen, MS (final year), Gynae Dept. RIMS pointed out that lack of hygiene is the main cause of sickness and damaging health in the area.
Vety Dept distributed various indispensable medicine for animal and others health related medicine to the participants in the camp.
In the meantime, Village Authority of Chalva on behalf of the peoples of areas expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Autonomous District Council, Sadar Hills for conducting such an important medical camp.
