Teacher blames State for missing out from award distribution ceremony

IMPHAL, September 12: A teacher selected for the National Level teachers award has blamed the state government of negligence resulting in him missing out from award distribution ceremony at New Delhi despite his selection for the prestigious award.

The senior high school teacher of Praja High School Lamshang, missed out on reciveing the prestigious award during the National teacher’s award distribution ceremony held on Teachers’ Day, September 5 at the national capital marking the birth anniversary of Dr S Radhakrisnan, wherein teachers from different part of the country is honoured with the award by the President of India, for their outstanding contribution.

The teacher identified as Koijam Tolendro of Lamshang Baszar, a science teacher of Praja High School addressed a press meet at the school today in this regard.

Speaking to the media, Tolendro lamented that he came to know his name was on the list of National Teachers award a few days back and after the award giving ceremony was concluded.

He was informed to check his name on the website of the Ministry of HRD by Ch Kangjamba, the father of one of the teacher’s student who had won the Balshree award recently.

Tolendro termed the episode as unfortunate and  continued that he had applied for the award last year.

Four of his students have won the Bal Shree award under the teacher's guidance.
