Media, which is also known as the fourth pillar of democracy, plays an important role in bringing development to the state, he said. Quoting the saying, “The Pen is mightier than the sword”, the Dy CM said that a journalist needs to understand and measure the impact of a report before publishing it.

The government is also mulling the establishment of a press academy in the state to strengthen the media fraternity, he announced.

The Dy CM further expressed that bandhs and blockades will not bring any development.

MLA Joykishan while lauding the media fraternity of the state  further acknowledged the role taken by the media persons in the development of the society. The media faces several kinds of problems while carrying out their duties, he said before appealing to all against threatening the media and to provide a free environment for the media fraternity to work without any constraints.

He further assured to approach the state Chief Minister with proposals for schemes and programs which will benefit the media fraternity.
