UTLA (SK Thadou group) to sign tripartite SoO agreement.

IMPHAL, July 16:Cadres of the United Tribal Liberation Army (SK Thadou group) will be signing a tripartite suspension of operation (SoO) agreement at the Assam Rifles post at Kadamtala in Jiribam Sub-division in Imphal East district tommorrow . The Kadamtala post is the Battalion Head Quarter of the 22 Assam Rifles.

The UTLA leaders had a peace talk with the representatives of Government of India and Government of Manipur at a meeting held on October 27, 2011 here at the Banquet hall, 1st BN Manipur Rifles.

On March 24, 2012, a large number of UTLA and Pakan Re-unification Army (PRA) cadres signed a tripartite SoO Agreement. The signing of the agreement was organized under the aegis of Kuki National Organization (KNO). 95 cadres of UTLA cadres and 22 cadres of PRA took part in the agreement signing ceremony. UTLA surrendered 55 arms and PRA surrender 17 arms.

The UTLA cadres who are going to sign the tripartite agreement at Kadamtala 22 AR post tomorrow are from the SK Thadou led faction. The number of the cadres who will be participating in tomorrow ceremony could not be confirmed till the filing of this report.

It may be mentioned here that a state cabinet meeting held on July 11 had already given its approval to sign tripartite SoO agreement with UTLA (SK Thadou group).

Meanwhile, cadres of a Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) faction will be taking part in a “home coming ceremony” by surrendering their arms. This said ceremony was supposed to be held today at 18 Sikh Light Infantry post at Tulihal Airport but due to some inconveniences it was cancelled.
