Prize Distribution Function of the 25th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2012-2013 for Kendriya Vidyalayas held

New Delhi, July 16: The Prize Distribution Function of the 25th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2012-2013 for Kendriya Vidyalayas was held in GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building, New Delhi, on Monday.
Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, presided over the function and distributed the prizes to the prize winning students/vidyalayas for their meritorious performances in the competition which were held during the academic year 2012-13. On this occasion the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pangode, Trivandrum, Kerala which stood first in the competition, presented a short sitting of “Youth Parliament”.
From a modest beginning in 1966 when the first Competition was organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in 16 schools of the Delhi Administration, the Youth Parliament Scheme now covers 1200 schools in NCT of Delhi, 1200 Kendriya Vidyalayas, 600 Jawahar Navodaya Vidayalayas and 300 Universities/Colleges all over county.
The Youth Parliament Scheme aims at familiarizing the students with the practices and procedures of Parliament, techniques of discussion and debate and development of leadership qualities, spirit of self discipline and tolerance of diverse opinions - the hallmarks of democracy.
The students/teachers in charge of the following Kendriya Vidyalayas received Trophies and Prizes from the Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development:-
