Missing students’ whereabouts demanded by classmates

IMPHAL, July 12: A sit in protest was held today by students, teaching and non-teaching staff’s of Standard Robarth English School, Canchipur outside their school premise against the suspicious missing cases of students Puyam Johnsana Singh, Khurai Chingambam Leikai and Mutum Nongpoknganba Singh (13) son of Mutum Imotomba, Bashikhong Kitana Panung.

Mutum Imotomba, the father of Mutum Nongpoknganba Singh while appealing for the safe custody of his son and release said his son  had left home on July 4 around 5:30am for his morning work but failed to return ever since.

Speaking to media person at the spot, RK Opendra, a teacher of the school said both the students are from the same class.

Puyam Johnsana Singh has been missing since June 23 while Mutum Nongpoknganba Singh went missing since July 4, inciting suspicion that the two might be together.

Elaborating that the state has been witnessing instances of missing children since the past few years, he said such instances builds insecurity amongst the students harming the educational environment of the state.

He further said that the July 5 mass students and teachers rally participated by thousands demanding free educational zone will be taken out in several district simultaneously will be of no avail, if such incidents continue.

He further appealed to the government to look into the issue seriously, and further appealed to any concern individual or group having custody of the two children to hand them over to their parents safe and sound.

A student lamented such instances of students going missing has affected their studies.
