JMG assures timely provision of monthly stipend to URF cadres

IMPHAL, July 15: United Peoples’ Front (URF), an umbrella group of Kuki militant outfits and a signatory of the Suspension of Operation with the state and central governments today met with officials of the Joint Monitoring Group at the Banquet Hall, 1st Manipur Rifles.
The representatives of the Kuki militant outfit urged the JMG officials for timely distribution of the monthly stipend for the cadres of the outfits in SoO under the UPF, and to sanction required funds for the earliest completion of the construction of the ZRA designated camp at Churachandpur and accommodate the ZRA cadres at the earliest.
The UPF team comprising of representatives from all its constituent outfits including United Kuki Liberation Front, Zomi Revolutionary Army, Kuki National Front (P) and Hmar Peoples’ Convention (D) also urged the JMG officials to arrange for monthly meetings between the two sides.
After listening to the appeals from the UPF representative, the JMG officials reportedly assured to try to provide the stipends in time and had further informed the UPF to submit an up-to-date cadres’ list to the JMG which will be further verified by the latter, informed the source.
The JMG team had also assured to complete the construction of the ZRA designated camp at CCPur at the earliest and to arrange for monthly meetings between the two sides, the source informed.
The state government was represented by Principal Secretary (Home), Dr J Sureshbabu; Additional DGP (L&) and Intelligence), LM Khaute (Chairman JMG); Criminal Investigation Department (Special Branch) Superintendent, and officials of Assam Rifles, Border Security Forces, Central Reserve Police Force and the Army.
