IED found in front of IUCB chairman’s residence

IMPHAL, July 9: Two unidentified persons on a two wheeler today left a high density IED firmly sealed in a tin can weighing around half kilogram along with a detonator and a dry battery cell in front of the residential gate of the chairman (Loan) of the Imphal Urban Co-operative Bank R K Mombisana (70), of Uripok Laikhurembi Leirak under Imphal Police station at around 12:30 pm.
The explosive was later picked up by a Manipur Police bomb expert team and safely detonated it at around 1:30pm.
According to the police, they were informed by the locals of Uripok Laikhurembi Leirak about a suspicious looking object left in front of the residential gate of RK Mombisana by two suspicious looking individuals on a two wheeler.
Soon after the information, the police arrived and cordoned off the area and called bomb experts.
Meanwhile, locals have condemned the placing of the explosive at the residential area.
