‘Leipaklei’ warmly received at Jeonju International Film Festival

IMPHAL, May 6: Manipuri Feature film 'Leipaklei' directed by Aribam Syam Sharma was screened twice at the 14th edition of the Jeonju International Film Festival, South Korea. This was stated in a press release signed by Aribam David Sharma, Production Manager of Aribam Syam Sharma Productions. It was screened in a special section called ‘Beyond Bollywood’, a section that presents authentic Indian films that provides a rare opportunity to experience the culture of India’s provinces that has been neglected all this time, the release said.
In the ‘Guest Visit’ (GV) interaction session with the audience following the screening, Assistant Director Bobo Khuraijam represented the film team.
Austrian film maker, Angelika Brudnaik, whose film ‘1+8’ is also part of the festival, shared her enthusiasm to visit Manipur and explore the place. Film maker Jeanine Meerapfel from Germany wanted to know the plans from the side of the producers regarding the possibility of ‘Leipaklei’ getting screened elsewhere in other parts of the India and outside. The organizers thanked the film team for having made such an effort to showcase a simple yet warm story from Manipur said the release.
