Hatchery unit inaugurated at KVK Hengbung

SENAPATI, May 11: The State Dy.Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds the post of Home inaugurated a hatchery unit at FEEDS/KVK-Sylvan,Hengbung in Sadar Hills Senapati district today.
The Dy.CM was accompanied by Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sericulture & Vetirinary, K.Govindas with ADM Senapati D.Gangmei, SP Senapati Pushpanjali and Addl.SP Kangpokpi Zakir.
Gaikhangam and his team after inaugurating the hatchery unit visited the Centre of Orchids Zene Conservation of the Himalayan Region located 0 miles from the Hatchery Unit. Mentioned may be made that the Orchids Zene Conservation of the Himalayan Region at Hengbung is the first and only Orchid Zene Bank Labora/Orchidarium in India so far.
Former MLA from Saitu-Gamphajol Constituency Haokholet Kipgen who is also the president of FEEDS/KVK-Sylvan Hengbung while speaking at the function said that Krishi Vigyan Kendra Hengbung was established in 2002. With a span of around 9 years we have made a tremendous progress in various field. We have 16 female scientist here right now from different place, added Kipgen.
Haokholet Kipgen further said that KVK-Sylvan Hengbung give fame to the state of Manipur nationally and internationally in various field. While appreciating the activities of the workers and contribution of the centre, Kipgen said,"I am really proud that we contribute something genuinely for the state and the nation".
He further said that scholars from abroad like Russia, Germany, Australia, Netherlands etc. frequently visit and they are impressed with the activities of the centre. But it is very unfortunate to mentioned that the visiting scholars were astonished to find lack of media attention terming the centre as "a Hidden centre with highly technical activities".
Kipgen requested the Dy.CM to avail or construct a hostel like building comprising of 6/7 room atleast for the staffs of the centre particularly the female workers from the state government side.
He also made a request to Minister K.Govindas to set up one Weaving Centre at Hengbung for the welfare of the women community of the areas.
Speaking at the function, K.Govindas, Minister Comm.&Industry, Sericulture & Vety. said that the Hatchery Unit inaigurated today can generate the state revenue and help the state economy. The Minister also assureed to do all possible to set up a Weaving Centre as requested by the President KVK-Sylvan Hengbung.
Gaikhangam while speaking at the function noted, "I am totally loss in the Centre. It is very impressive and I am really proud of it."
